RRTC – Spirit of Texas Triumph Award

Spirit of Texas Triumph Award

In recognition of her love for everything, and everyone associated with Triumphs, the Red River Triumph Club of Texas will present the “Spirit of Texas Triumph Award” to a female Triumph Club member who has exhibited the enthusiasm, participation and love of Triumphs that Millie had. This award will be selected by a committee of Red River Triumph Club officers for the 2016 VTR National Convention.

Millie and Norm Philips have been very active members of the Red River Triumph Club since 1986. Norm’s first Triumph was a 1958 TR3 and then he obtained a 1975 Triumph TR 6 for Millie. After restoring the TR 6 and painting it Carmen Red, a deep rose red color, Millie named it “Rose 6”. Millie was very proud of “Rose 6” and made sure it was prepared to the highest degree of excellence for Concours showing. Millie Philips and “Rose 6” received first in its class at the first two VTR National Convention Concours event in which it was entered. As required by rules “Rose 6” was entered in Senior Class and received that award at the next Concours entered. After receiving a Senior Class award “Rose 6” was entered in Preservation Class several times and always easily qualified for that award.

Millie always exhibited the “Triumph Spirit” in every endeavor that she undertook with the Red River Triumph Club, Regional Conventions and the VTR National Conventions. Not only has she been an officer but an energetic worker to promote the Triumph badge and spirit in the car club, always involved in planning, working events and selling raffle tickets or whatever needed to be done. When it came time to have fun she was a leader there as well.

Millie Rose Philips passed June 30, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Her spirit and bright beautiful smile will be missed by everyone as well as her support for all things Triumph.
